Frequently asked questions
A current Responsible Management of Licences Venues (RMLV) Certificate is mandatory for:
- all approved managers in Queensland,
- all liquor licensees (if an individual and not a company) of non exempt * premises, and
- some permit holders.
*see exemptions for low risk premises
New red tape reduction laws state that “low risk” venues such as Cafes, Restaurants and licensed clubs with less than 2000 members no longer need to have an Approved Manager, provided that they do not have extended trading hours after midnight.
Removing the requirement to hold an approved managers licence in low risk venues also removed the requirement for staff (including managers) to hold a current RMLV certificate.
Licencess (if an individual) of low risk premises must still hold a current RMLV Certificate, unless they apply for an exemption with OLGR.
RSA Liquor Professionals still recommends that managers of ‘low risk’ venues complete the RMLV course for their own due diligence protection. The course is not mandatory but is highly recommended as a best practice measure.
Holders of a CURRENT (not expired) RMLV Certificate are not required to hold an additional RSA Certificate in the state of Queensland.
The RMLV Certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue, and must be renewed for your Approved Managers License to remain valid.
Currently there are no OLGR approved RMLV refresher courses available for students who have completed the course before, and all returning students need to complete the full 1 day course to renew their certificates.
It is a requirement of the Office of Liquor and Gaming (OLGR) that the RMLV course be completed in a face-to-face training environment and cannot be completed online.
The venue is close to public transport and paid street parking.
The closest all-day (metered) Street Parking (max 12 hours) is located along Trafalgar St, Woolloongabba.
